Whitley Strieber, Bestselling Author of Communion, his new book The Key - A True Encounter

Whitley Strieber is the author of 22 novels and 8 works of nonfiction, including ‘Communion’ and most recently ‘The Key’, and the upcoming ‘What is to Come: the Solution to the Communion Enigma’. Four films, ‘The Wolfen’, ‘The Hunger’, ‘Communion’ and ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ have been made from his books.

In December of 1985, Whitley Strieber awoke one night to find himself in the midst of a close encounter of the third kind. He was left with lasting physical injuries from this bizarre and violent experience, but no clear idea of precisely what had happened. The experience led to eleven years of further encounters ranging from the terrifying to the sublime. They culminated in 1998 with a 45 minute meeting in a hotel room with a man Strieber has called the Master of the Key. During his encounter with this man, Strieber took notes, which he turned into a book called the Key. The man made a number of remarkable scientific predictions, some of them quite technical and obscure, which have subsequently been affirmed by discoveries reported in the scientific press.

Since 1998, Strieber has had few close encounter experiences, and none displaying the ambiguity between the physical and the numinous that characterized the earlier events. He has been working on ‘What is to Come’ since 2002. It will be published by Tarcher/Penguin in January of 2012.

He is also the creator of the website Unknowncountry.com, which is the largest edge science website in the world. His radio program, Dreamland, can be heard on Unknowncountry.com and on iTunes, as well as on many smartphone radio apps. With an audience of over 250,000, it is among the most popular of all podcast radio programs.

Whitley is married to author and Unknowncountry.com editor-in-chief Anne Strieber. They divide their time between California, Texas and New York.
